For Parents, Students, & Staff

Parents

As Parents

At AWE we are fully transparent with everyone involved. In almost all situations your child’s responses are kept confidential and only they get their personal results and report (except juniors). We keep things confidential so that students are encouraged to give honest answers and in that way the overall results provided to the school are as accurate as possible.

Situations when it is not confidential include:

  • When the ‘student confidentiality is turned off. This is where schools receive individual student reports. This isn’t the default mode and students need to agree to this every time they take an assessment in this mode.
  • When we determine that a student has very low wellbeing or is being significantly bullied. In these circumstances we ask the student if they would like us to send their name and relevant score to the school (not their whole wellbeing report) so they can receive extra support.

Participation

Our wellbeing assessments have been developed with the intention of providing students time to reflect on their own wellbeing, giving them a voice to provide feedback, and allowing students that are struggling an easy way to ask for help. With the aggregate data the schools can make informed decisions about how to improve school wellbeing. If you do not want your child to participate, please let your school know. It is also voluntary for all students – they do not have to participate.

As Participants

As a parent you are also able to participate and receive the same assessment as the school staff. If you would like to participate, please contact your school. You will get your own wellbeing report and the school will receive your data anonymously with other parents. We do not report any results to the school until there are at least 10 responses for all user types. You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback to the school.

How's your wellbeing?

Most people do not take the time to fully consider their wellbeing and what drives their happiness. However most people have a rough idea of how life is going, but more often than not, they don't have a thorough understanding, or really know what impacts their wellbeing, or which aspects they can actually improve. The first step is to obtain more accurate, reliable and relevant data - a wellbeing assessment.

Do I really need an assessment?

Most of us can benefit from a wellbeing assessment. An assessment is not just for people with low wellbeing. Once they examine the different aspects of their wellbeing most people can see where they can make positive changes. Moreover, because AWE assesses both what is going well and what's not, you can build on what's going right as well as changing what's not.

How can I use my results?

AWE does not provide wellbeing programmes. The last page of the adult assessment report points to 'Ways to Wellbeing'. These are 3rd party online resources that have been vetted by our wellbeing experts and purported as the best online resources that include scientifically validated programmes and materials.

How's your wellbeing?

Very few of us really think about our wellbeing and what drives our happiness. We probably have a rough idea of how life is going, but few of us really look at what impacts our wellbeing - either boosting it or draining it. The first step to managing our wellbeing is creating our own information and being able to stand back and take a look at it. That's what a wellbeing assessment is all about.

Why should I bother with the assessment?

Virtually all of us can learn from a wellbeing assessment. It's not just for people who are struggling, but also for people who are doing well. After looking at different aspects of their wellbeing most people can see where they can make positive changes. Plus, AWE looks at what's going well and what's not, so you can build on what's going right as well as changing what's not.

How can I use my results?

The best way to use your results is to talk to your family and friends. Having conversations about wellbeing, both what is going well and what is not going so well, is a good first step towards improving wellbeing. You can also talk to your teachers and school guidance counsellor about your results.
